On April 10th I joined some local rippers and headed up to Island Lake Lodge, located in the stunning Lizard Range just outside of Fernie B.C. The day could not have been better, Fresh Snow, Sun, and 7000 + acres all for us. We were not there to just pound laps out, but to work on this years production of “Whats in the Fridge” Put together by Jah Raven Creation, a local film production company sponsored heavily by the Commit Snow and Skate shop located in downtown Fernie. Fernie B.C was home to the 2009 National Fly Fishing Championships – a week long competition along the internationally renowned Elk River. One of the longest running events in the Kootenays is the annual Invermere Lakeside Event. Paragliders and Hangliders compete to see who can land closest to a target on the beach, or in the water. This full day event is great to watch as pilots soar in from Mt. Swansea. Please click on the photo to see the highlights of the 2009 event.

During the early months of 2009 I spent a week capturing the highs and lows of one of the longest, most grueling, cross country bike races in North America. 7 days of racing from Vancouver to Nanaimo, through Comox, to Powell River, and down the Sunshine Coast, finally finishing in Whistler.
